History just follows Tom Brady. On the night he became the first player to make 300 career starts, Brady joined Drew Brees in football lore. Brady recorded the 100th 300-yard passing game of his career, becoming just the second player to ever accomplish the feat. Brees holds the record for the most 300-yard passing games, netting 123 in his 20-year career with the San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints.
Brady capped his night completing 32 of 50 passes for 379 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions (97.0 rating). Trailing 29-28 to the Dallas Cowboys with 1:24 remaining, Brady led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on an 11-play, 62-yard drive that resulted in a game-winning 36-yard field goal with two seconds remaining for a 31-29 victory. The game-winning drive was the 49th of Brady’s career, third most in NFL history behind Peyton Manning (54) and Brees (53).
Brady reached the 300-yard mark on a 7-yard pass to Leonard Fournette with 8:56 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Brady had two touchdown passes to Rob Gronkowski in the game, the second was the 86th regular-season touchdown connection between the two — which passed Hall of Famers Steve Young and Jerry Rice for third in NFL history. Brady and Gronkowski trail only Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison for the most pass touchdown connections all time, as the duo have 100 pass connections for scores (including the postseason).
Brady continues to move his way up the record books, which is all he can do to further cement his status as the greatest player in league history.
