Maryland @ Illinois
Current Records: Maryland 2-0; Illinois 1-2
What to Know
After a two-game homestand, the Maryland Terrapins will be on the road. Maryland and the Illinois Fighting Illini will face off in a Big Ten battle at 9 p.m. ET on Friday at Memorial Stadium. The Terrapins won’t have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy a 7-point advantage in the spread.
Maryland kept a clean sheet against the Howard Bison last week and took the matchup 62 to nothing. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38 to nothing.
Meanwhile, the day started off rough for Illinois last week, and it ended that way, too. They suffered a grim 42-14 defeat to the Virginia Cavaliers. Illinois was down 35-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. QB Artur Sitkowski had a pretty forgettable game, throwing one interception with only 4.91 yards per passing attempt.
Maryland’s victory lifted them to 2-0 while Illinois’ defeat dropped them down to 1-2. We’ll see if Maryland’s success rolls on or if the Fighting Illini are able to steal their positive momentum.
