Who’s Playing
Stanford @ Vanderbilt
Current Records: Stanford 1-1; Vanderbilt 1-1
What to Know
If the oddsmakers’ predictions hold true, the near future looks bright for the Stanford Cardinal. They are staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Vanderbilt Commodores at 8 p.m. ET Sept. 18 at Vanderbilt Stadium. Stanford won’t have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy a 12-point advantage in the spread.
The Cardinal beat the USC Trojans 42-28 last week. Stanford can attribute much of their success to RB Nathaniel Peat, who rushed for one TD and 115 yards on six carries, and QB Tanner McKee, who passed for two TDs and 234 yards on 22 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. That touchdown — an 87-yard rush in the first quarter — was one of the highlights of the contest.
Meanwhile, Vanderbilt sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 victory over the Colorado State Rams last week. No one had a standout game offensively for Vanderbilt, but they got scores from WR Chris Pierce Jr. and WR Cam Johnson. Seals had some trouble finding his footing against the ETSU Buccaneers two weeks ago, so this was a step in the right direction.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-1. Watch the matchup and check back on CBS Sports to find out who keeps up the positive energy and who hits a stumbling block.
