The Week 2 NFL Sunday is out for blood, with teams around the league seeing player after player head to the sidelines and/or locker room with injury. What’s made worse is the fact many of those players are starters at their respective positions, with several quarterbacks going down as well. The first slate of games has been absolutely brutal, and now teams must enter Week 3 with plenty of question marks about not only how to adjust without their stars — e.g., Tua Tagovailoa and Tyrod Taylor — but they’re also holding their breath, waiting to find out if any of the following players will miss time going forward.
Here’s a look at notable players who have been or are currently being evaluated for injury around the NFL:
Bears
- Andy Dalton, QB (ankle)
Dalton left in the first half with an injured ankle, tried to come back and play, but ultimately left again just before the half. Rookie Justin Fields came in to play the second half.
Broncos
- Bradley Chubb, LB (ankle)
- Josey Jewell, LB (shoulder)
Chubb reinjured his ankle, which had kept him out of their Week 1 game against the Giants.
Colts
- Carson Wentz, QB (ankle)
Wentz, who missed most of the summer rehabbing from ankle surgery, suffered a separate ankle injury late against the Rams, leaving in the fourth quarter. Coach Frank Reich said he rolled it “pretty bad” and will undergo further tests in the coming days. It’s unclear if he’ll be available when Indy returns for a crucial Week 3 matchup against Tennessee.
Browns
- Baker Mayfield, QB (shoulder)
- Jarvis Landry, WR (knee)
Mayfield was helped off the field with a shoulder issue in the first half, but reentered the game. Landry is set for an MRI on his knee after exiting the game against the Texans.
Dolphins
- Tua Tagovailoa, QB (ribs)
Tagovailoa was carted off the field after taking a hard hit, and Jacoby Brissett came in to replace him. The Dolphins starter reportedly suffered bruised ribs, and although X-rays came back negative, he was in significant pain.
Eagles
- Brandon Graham, DE
- Brandon Brooks, RG
The Eagles lost two key players to leg injuries against the 49ers. Graham reportedly suffered a torn Achilles, which would sideline him for the remainder of 2021. Rookie Landon Dickerson replaced Brooks up front.
Rams
- Darrell Henderson, RB (ribs)
Los Angeles’ top running back left late in the fourth quarter and did not return. The Rams notably acquired former Patriots starter Sony Michel before the season, and he’d likely be in line to take over RB1 duties.
Steelers
- T.J. Watt, LB (groin)
- Tyson Alualu, DL (ankle fracture)
The Steelers lost last season’s sacks leader to a groin injury, and that wasn’t their only issue on defense, as Alualu fractured his ankle.
Texans
- Tyrod Taylor, QB (hamstring)
- Danny Amendola, WR (hamstring)
- Nico Collins, WR (shoulder)
The biggest issue here, of course, is the starting quarterback. Taylor injured his hamstring in the first half against the Browns, and Davis Mills came in for the second half.
Raiders
- Alex Leatherwood, OL (oblique)
Leatherwood exited the game, leaving the Raiders shorthanded on an offensive line that was already thin.
