It was initially thought that Carson Wentz’s injury was limited to his right ankle following the Colts‘ Week 2 loss to the Rams. On Monday, Colts coach Frank Reich revealed that Wentz suffered sprains in both ankles on Sunday. Reich would not answer whether or not Wentz will be under center when the Colts travel to Nashville to face the Titans on Sunday.

Reich said that Wentz’s left ankle injury took place early in the game. Wentz left Sunday’s game after injuring his right ankle on a hit by Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald with 7:31 remaining. The Colts tied the score on the very next play before allowing the Rams to score the game-winning field goal on their ensuing drive.

“I’ve played with a lot (of pain) before, but this one I just couldn’t,” Wentz said of his injury, via Zak Keefer of The Athletic.

Jacob Eason, who would replace Wentz if he cannot play against the Titans, threw an interception on his second pass attempt against the Titans. Eason was just 2 of 5 for 25 yards in his two series of work. The second-year quarterback beat out Sam Ehlinger for the job as the Colts’ No. 2 quarterback during the preseason.

Wentz was 20 of 31 for 247 yards with a touchdown and an interception before leaving Sunday’s game. He was sacked three times and hit 11 times. Wentz was sacked three times in the Colts’ Week 1 loss to Seattle. The Colts also struggled to run the ball on Sunday, as Jonathan Taylor and Marlon Mack combined to run for 66 yards on 20 carries. Sunday’s loss dropped the Colts to 0-2 a season after going 11-5 during Phillip Rivers’ only season in Indianapolis.

“There’s no hide in this league,” Colts center Ryan Kelly said of Indianapolis’ struggles on the offensive line. “We gotta stop it. There have been too many shots on [Wentz].”
