Who’s Playing
Carolina @ Houston
Current Records: Carolina 2-0; Houston 1-1
What to Know
After a two-game homestand, the Carolina Panthers will be on the road. They will square off against the Houston Texans at 8:20 p.m. ET on Thursday at NRG Stadium. Carolina will be hoping to build upon the 16-10 win they picked up against Houston when they previously played in September of 2019.
The Panthers ran circles around the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, and the extra yardage (383 yards vs. 128 yards) paid off. Carolina took down New Orleans 26-7. The team accrued 17 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win. No one had a standout game offensively for Carolina, but they got scores from WR D.J. Moore, RB Christian McCaffrey, and WR Brandon Zylstra. QB Sam Darnold ended up with a passer rating of 147.90.
Meanwhile, it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, but the Texans were not quite the Cleveland Browns’ equal in the second half when they met on Sunday. Houston fell to the Browns 31-21. One thing working slightly against Houston was the run-of-the-mill game of their most targeted running back, RB Mark Ingram, who rushed for 41 yards on 14 carries.
Carolina’s victory lifted them to 2-0 while Houston’s loss dropped them down to 1-1. We’ll see if the Panthers can repeat their recent success or if Houston bounces back and reverse their fortune.
