If you’re an NFL bettor, you want to grab the best lines possible for the games you are eyeing. Instead of buying points or half-points right before kickoff, you can get a better line for no fee if you placed your wager ahead of time on a side that provides value before the line moves. That takes some practice, however.
Every Friday, we take a look at the NFL lines a week in advance to determine if we should put money down now in order to get the best bang for our buck. Depending on what happens in Week 3, all of these lines could change before we reach Week 4, so we want to go ahead and get our bets in if we see a nice opportunity for an upset, or to jump on a favorite before the line moves even more in their favor.

Jaguars at Bengals (-6.5)
The Jaguars are approaching train-wreck status. It’s wild that they decided to release a statement apologizing to their fans after falling to 0-2. Maybe they are anticipating 0-3 with Kyler Murray and the Cardinals coming to town this week. If they get blown out, this line will move.
This line will also move if the Bengals upset the Steelers this week — which is very possible. The Bengals lost by just three points to the Bears last week even though Joe Burrow tossed three interceptions, while the Steelers were upset by the Raiders at Heinz Field. Additionally, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is dealing with a pec injury, his top receiver Diontae Johnson has a knee injury and several defenders such as Alex Highsmith and T.J. Watt are banged up. I really think this Bengals line moves after Sunday.
Titans (-6) at Jets
Which Titans are the real Titans? Are they the team that got spanked by the Cardinals on their home field in Week 1, or are they the team that can orchestrate a double-digit comeback in the second half using primarily their running back? I’m leaning towards the latter, and they have a potential layup this week against the Colts — who may be employing a two-quarterback system with Carson Wentz injured. On the other side, the Jets are one of the worst teams in football and should be 0-3 entering Week 4.

Buccaneers (-5.5) at Patriots
When Tom Brady took his talents to Tampa and formally ended the Patriots dynasty and their six Super Bowl run, we all couldn’t help but wonder who was more responsible for its success: Brady or Bill Belichick? This matchup is going to be fascinating. What weaknesses of Brady’s will Belichick look to exploit? Or will Brady rule the day and look to run up the score on his former home field?
The reigning Super Bowl champions are favorites for a reason. We’ve seen what a motivated Brady can do. I mean, he won the Super Bowl in his first year away from the Patriots. This game has to feel like a Super Bowl for him as well. As for the line, I think this will move if the Bucs beat the Rams this week. Even if the Bucs lose, that probably just adds to Brady’s motivation. I will likely be taking the Bucs and the points regardless next week, so I’ll jump on them now in case this increases from 5.5.
