Who’s Playing
Texas Southern @ Rice
Current Records: Texas Southern 0-2; Rice 0-3
What to Know
The Texas Southern Tigers are staring down a pretty large 37-point disadvantage in the spread for Saturday’s matchup. Their week off comes to an end as they meet up with the Rice Owls at 6:30 p.m. ET at Rice Stadium Saturday. Neither team wants a repeat from their last game since each was dealt a considerable loss.
There’s no need to mince words: the Tigers lost to the Baylor Bears two weeks ago, and they lost bad. The score wound up at 66-7. Texas Southern was down 52 to nothing at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. Their only offensive touchdown came from RB Kevin Harris.
Meanwhile, Rice took a serious blow against the Texas Longhorns last week, falling 58 to nothing. The Owls were in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 44 to nothing. QB Jake Constantine had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: he passed for only 59 yards on 14 attempts.
With the two teams each stumbling in off of a loss, both will be hungry for the win. Neither squad could put together much of an offensive attack, so expect every point to count.
