Who’s Playing
New York @ Denver
Current Records: New York 0-2; Denver 2-0
What to Know
After two games on the road, the Denver Broncos are heading back home. They will take on the New York Jets at 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High. Denver will be hoping to build upon the 37-28 win they picked up against New York when they previously played in October of last year.
Last week, the Broncos turned the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars into a track meet and took the gold after outgaining them 398 yards to 189. Denver took their game against Jacksonville 23-13. Denver’s success was spearheaded by the efforts of QB Teddy Bridgewater, who passed for two TDs and 328 yards on 34 attempts, and WR Courtland Sutton, who caught nine passes for 159 yards. Sutton’s performance made up for a slower matchup against the New York Giants two weeks ago.
Special teams collected 11 points for Denver. K Brandon McManus delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Meanwhile, the contest between the Jets and the New England Patriots last week was not a total blowout, but with New York falling 25-6 at home, it was darn close to turning into one. QB Zach Wilson had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw four interceptions.
Denver is the favorite in this one, with an expected 10-point margin of victory. They have been consistent moneymakers against the spread when favored (2-0), so they might be worth a quick bet.
Denver’s victory lifted them to 2-0 while New York’s defeat dropped them down to 0-2. Giving up four turnovers, New York had had trouble holding onto the ball. We’ll see if Denver can exploit that vulnerability.
