Through 3 Quarters
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were expected to take an ‘L’ in this one, but so far it isn’t playing out to script. Sitting on a score of 27-14, they have looked like the better squad out there today, but there’s still one more quarter to play. QB Jeff Sims has led the way so far for the Yellow Jackets, as he has accumulated 79 passing yards in addition to rushing for two TDs and 72 yards.
Georgia Tech has been a nightmare for North Carolina’s offensive line with five sacks already. We’ll see how many sacks Georgia Tech can scare up the rest of the game.

What to Know
Considering their sizeable disadvantage in the spread, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets can expect to have a real challenge on their hands Saturday. Georgia Tech and the North Carolina Tar Heels will face off in an ACC battle at 7:30 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. UNC will be strutting in after a victory while the Yellow Jackets will be stumbling in from a defeat.
Georgia Tech didn’t finish too far behind, but the squad still lost 14-8 to the Clemson Tigers last week. One thing holding Georgia Tech back was the mediocre play of QB Jordan Yates, who did not have his best game: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he fumbled the ball once.
Meanwhile, while not quite a landslide, the game between UNC and the Virginia Cavaliers last week was still a pretty decisive one as the Tar Heels wrapped it up with a 59-39 win at home. QB Sam Howell was a one-man wrecking crew for UNC, passing for five TDs and 307 yards on 21 attempts in addition to picking up 112 yards on the ground. Howell’s 75-yard touchdown toss to WR Khafre Brown in the first quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the night.
The Yellow Jackets are now 1-2 while UNC sits at a mirror-image 2-1. Two defensive stats to keep an eye on: Georgia Tech is stumbling into the matchup with the 145th most rushing yards allowed per game in the nation, having given up 161.3 on average. UNC has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 194th worst in the nation in passing yards allowed per game, with 270.7 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
