Through 3 Quarters
The BYU Cougars are just one quarter away from delivering their fans the win they’ve been expecting all week. It’s looking more and more like their high-powered offense is just too much for the South Florida Bulls as BYU lead 35-20. QB Baylor Romney has led the way so far for the Cougars, as he has passed for three TDs and 299 yards on 23 attempts.
BYU and South Florida came into this matchup with previous-game wins. We’ll see if BYU can maintain their lead to polish off another victory and cancel out South Florida’s positive energy.

What to Know
The South Florida Bulls have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. They will take on the BYU Cougars at 10:15 p.m. ET on Saturday at LaVell Edwards Stadium. These two teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
Everything went the Bulls’ way against the Florida A&M Rattlers last week as they made off with a 38-17 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 24-3.
Meanwhile, BYU bagged a 27-17 win over the Arizona State Sun Devils last week. The team ran away with 21 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the win. No one had a standout game offensively for BYU, but they got scores from a handful of players including TE Isaac Rex, RB Tyler Allgeier, and WR Gunner Romney.
BYU’s defense was a force to be reckoned with, as it collected two interceptions and three fumbles. The picks came courtesy of LB Max Tooley and DB Malik Moore.
South Florida is the clear underdog, so they’re hoping it’s the size of the fight that determines this one. True fans might be the only ones betting on them, currently 0-2 ATS, to cover the spread.
The wins brought South Florida up to 1-2 and the Cougars to 3-0. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Bulls are 235th worst in the nation in yards allowed per game, with 523.7 on average. BYU has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the matchup with the 181st most passing yards allowed per game in the nation, having given up 252.3 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
