Coaches Poll top 25: Iowa joins top three, BYU enters top 10 in college football rankings

The Coaches Poll has a new look after six teams in the top 15 and and nine ranked teams overall suffered losses in a chaotic Week 5. Alabama and Georgia kept their strangleholds on the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, while Iowa moved up to No. 3. Penn State rounds out of the top four.

Oklahoma fell a spot to No. 5 after narrowly surviving Kansas State to stay undefeated but still remains ahead of No. 6 Cincinnati despite the Bearcats’ road win against No. 13 Notre Dame. After multiple top 10 teams lost, No. 8 Michigan and No. 10 BYU jumped into the top 10 for the first time this season.

After all the losses, the bottom half of the poll went through significant changes. Texas jumped back into the poll at No. 23 after outlasting TCU on the road. Wake Forest rose to No. 20. Oregon dropped to No. 9 after losing to Stanford, but No. 25 Arizona State became the second Pac-12 team in the poll.
