Through 3 Quarters
Only one more quarter stands between the Iowa State Cyclones and the win they were favored to collect going into this night. Three quarters in and their offense has really been able to impose its will, dominating the Kansas Jayhawks 52-7. Iowa State has been led by QB Brock Purdy, who so far has passed for four TDs and 245 yards on 22 attempts in addition to picking up 37 yards on the ground.
The Cyclones and Kansas have certainly played as if they’re avenging a loss, because they are. At this point it looks like Iowa State might take this one, but there’s still plenty of time for a reversal of fortune.

The game between Kansas and the Duke Blue Devils last week was not a total blowout, but with the Jayhawks falling 52-33 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one.
Meanwhile, it was close but no cigar for Iowa State as they fell 31-29 to the Baylor Bears last week. Iowa State might have lost, but man — RB Breece Hall was a total machine. He rushed for two TDs and 192 yards on 28 carries in addition to snatching one receiving TD.
Special teams collected 14 points for Iowa State. K Andrew Mevis delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Kansas is the clear underdog, so they’re hoping it’s the size of the fight that determines this one. Those betting on them against the spread shouldn’t have high expectations for them since the team is 0-2 ATS when expected to lose.
The losses put the Jayhawks at 1-3 and the Cyclones at 2-2. A pair of defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Kansas is 246th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 16 on the season. Iowa State’s defense has more to brag about, as they they enter the contest with only 215 yards allowed per game on average, good for eighth best in the nation. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
