Through 2 Quarters

We’ve seen some fireworks two quarters in as the Arizona State Sun Devils and the UCLA Bruins have combined for 47 points. Either team is in a position to win, but ASU leads 24-23. WR Ricky Pearsall has led the way so far for the Sun Devils, as he has caught three passes for two TDs and 124 yards.

ASU has been led by Pearsall, who so far has caught three passes for two TDs and 124 yards. This receiving effort made it the first game that Pearsall has posted more than 100 yards receiving.

ASU and UCLA came into this matchup with previous-game wins. The follow-up victory here is still up for grabs, so expect a hard fought finale.

What to Know

The UCLA Bruins and the Arizona State Sun Devils are set to square off in a Pac-12 matchup at 10:30 p.m. ET Oct. 2 at Rose Bowl. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous games.

The Bruins were able to grind out a solid win over the Stanford Cardinal last week, winning 35-24. UCLA QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson was slinging it as he passed for two TDs and 252 yards on 28 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 31 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Thompson-Robinson’s 75-yard TD bomb to WR Kyle Philips in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, ASU took their game against the Colorado Buffaloes last week by a conclusive 35-13 score. ASU QB Jayden Daniels did work as he accumulated 236 passing yards in addition to rushing for two TDs and 75 yards. Daniels had some trouble finding his footing against the BYU Cougars two weeks ago, so this was a step in the right direction. Daniels’ sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.

This next matchup is expected to be close, with UCLA going off at just a 3-point favorite. If their 3-1 record against the spread is anything to go by, the prospects look good for bets placed on them.

The wins brought UCLA up to 3-1 and ASU to 3-1. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: UCLA is stumbling into the game with the 240th most passing yards allowed per game in the nation, having given up 330.3 on average. The Sun Devils have experienced some struggles of their own as they are 139th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with five on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
