Tom Brady reveals the one NFL team that he likes to beat the most and it’s definitely not the Patriots

Tom Brady reveals the one NFL team that he likes to beat the most and it’s definitely not the Patriots

The Buccaneers wild win over the Patriots on Sunday didn’t just allow Tom Brady to get revenge on his old team, the victory also allowed Brady to enter a very exclusive club. Thanks to the victory, Brady is now just the fourth quarterback in NFL history to defeat all 32 teams, joining Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Brett Favre.

Now that Brady has beaten every team at least one time, Jim Gray had a very interesting question for him on the latest episode of the “Let’s Go!” podcast that Gray and Brady host together (Seriously, Brady has his own podcast).

During Monday’s show, Gray asked Brady which team is his favorite one to beat. Brady could have said the Rams (he’s beaten them twice in the Super Bowl) or the Falcons (he’s 9-0 all-time against Atlanta, including that wild win in Super Bowl LI) or even the Bills (He’s beaten them 32 times), but nope, Brady had a completely different answer.

“Holy cow, that’s a good question,” Brady said, via Pro Football Talk. “The team I would love to beat the most is the Giants, there’s no doubt about that, because they’ve taken away some really, you know, I’ve always joked with Eli [Manning] but, yeah, and I think he likes that I bring it up all the time. So to bring it up again, I do not like losing to those guys, so when we beat them I love that.”

As you can see, Brady’s answer is the THE NEW YORK GIANTS. The answer definitely makes some sense and that’s because Brady has a long history with them. Although he has a 5-1 regular season record against the Giants, including a wild Week 17 win in 2007 that pushed the Patriots to 16-0, Brady also has two infamous Super Bowl losses to them and those losses seem to eat at him all the time, especially the one that cost New England its undefeated season.

Back in 2018, Brady admitted in his documentary “Tom vs. Time” that those two Super Bowl losses would likely stick with him forever

“I’ll never let go of those losses. That scar tissue is too deep, it’s too thick,” Brady said.

As for the team that Brady leasts like to beat, that one is easy: It’s the Patriots.

“The team I like to beat the least is obviously the Patriots,” Brady said. “Again, those are my guys, man. Those are the other warriors that I went to battle with for so long. I’ve had a lot of battles over the years with different teams, there’s a lot of mutual respect in pro sports, but glad I’m through with the one [on Sunday].”

The good news for Brady is that there’s a very good chance that he won’t have to face the Patriots again in his career, although it will be possible thanks to the new scheduling formula. Assuming they don’t meet in a Super Bowl, the earliest it could possibly happen again is 2023. If Brady’s still playing at that point, he’d be 46 years old.

The other good news for Brady is that he’s going to get another crack at his favorite team to beat and that’s because the Buccaneers will be hosting the Giants on Monday night in Week 11.
