The Seattle Seahawks weren’t sure if they were going to have Chris Carson available for their NFC West clash with the Los Angeles Rams. Turns out, Seattle won’t have their No. 1 running back after all.
Carson was listed on the game day inactive report, so he won’t be available for the Seahawks. Carson was a game-time decision on the short week as he was dealing with a lot of discomfort in his neck. Listed as questionable, a Sunday matchup would have been better for Carson — who is Seattle’s leading rusher through four games.
Carson has 54 carries for 232 yards and three touchdowns this season. Despite not having a 100-yard game, Carson is on pace for 936 yards on the season — which would be his third 900-plus yard campaign in the last four years. He finished with 13 carries for 30 yards in Sunday’s win over the 49ers, as backup running back Alex Collins paved the way with 10 carries for 46 yards and a score.
With Carson unable to go, Collins is expected to be the No. 1 running back. Having just three carries the first two weeks, Collins has 13 carries for 79 yards and a touchdown on the year. The Seahawks also have Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas on the depth chart as third-down options.
Despite injuries, Carson has been productive in his five NFL seasons. An undrafted free agent in 2017, Carson has 3,502 rushing yards — good for 10th in the NFL in that span — and 24 touchdowns. He’s averaged 4.55 yards per carry in 49 games.
