The Las Vegas Raiders have been a team to watch this season, with players such as defensive end Maxx Crosby and quarterback Derek Carr leading the squad to a 3-1 record in the vaunted AFC West. Now many Nevadans won’t have to go out their way to see the highlights of the team’s success.
Allegiant Stadium, the Raiders’ home, unveiled a new exterior video board featuring a 27,600-square foot screen. The screen shows images and videos from Raiders games — like the Carr pass in the clip below — to those driving Interstate 15.
Allegiant Stadium tested the video board last season, the Raiders’ first in Las Vegas after moving from Oakland, but reportedly couldn’t get it operational. Workers began repositioning the media mesh panels in March to ensure it’d be ready sometime this season. They accomplished that goal by Week 5, and now the video board is Allegiant Stadium’s largest exterior sign at 80-feet tall and 345-feet long.
The Raiders are playing in front of Las Vegas fans for the first time ever this season, as none were allowed in the stadium in their debut campaign a year ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fans have made a considerable impact already, as the Raiders pulled off overtime victories against the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins for a perfect 2-0 record in Allegiant Stadium thus far in 2021. They’ll hope to add home win No. 3 in a bout against Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears this Sunday.
Now, thanks to Allegiant Stadium’s new video board, fans can support the Raiders from their seats and their cars thanks to the. The only loser: the congestion on Interstate 15 during game days.
