The 2021 MLB playoffs continue on Saturday with two National League Divisional Round matchups on the schedule. The action starts off with Brewers vs. Braves at 4:07 p.m. ET and then continues with Dodgers vs. Giants at 8:07 p.m. ET. MLB daily Fantasy players will be parsing the matchups looking for value as always. Differentiation is always tough with two-game and single-game slates, so which stars are unavoidable, and which role players might set your MLB DFS lineups apart?
Matt Beaty played an important bench role for the Dodgers all season, but he was thrust into the lineup by a freak injury late in the season to Max Muncy. Beaty is 0-for-6 so far in the postseason, but could he be ready to break out in a starting role or should you be looking elsewhere in the MLB DFS player pool? Before finalizing your MLB DFS picks for Saturday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.
McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. On Friday, McClure listed White Sox outfielder Luis Robert among his top MLB DFS picks on FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Robert went 3-for-4, scored two runs and had an RBI, returning 21.9 points on FanDuel and 17 points on DraftKings. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Saturday, October 9
One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Saturday is Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts, who is listed at $3,600 on FanDuel and $5,200 on DraftKings. Betts tied his career-low with a .264 average while battling injuries as he missed 40 games this regular season, but the power and the plate patience still made him a productive player offensively.
Betts hit 23 home runs and finished with a total of 55 extra-base hits and had an OBP of .367 to go along with a .487 slugging percentage. So far this postseason, he’s 4-for-8, and Betts should be pretty happy to see Kevin Gausman when he steps into the box on Saturday night. Betts is 15-for-46 off Gausman lifetime with three home runs and has a .923 career OPS against him.
Another key in McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Brewers outfielder Avisail Garcia ($2,700 on FanDuel and $4,200 on DraftKings). After being non-tendered by the White Sox after 2018, having a decent season with the Rays in 2019 and then struggling with the Brewers in the shortened 2020 season, Garcia had one of the best offensive seasons of his career in 2021.
The 30-year-old hit a career-high 29 home runs and drove in a career-high 86 RBIs. He slashed .262/.330/.490 and has even flashed some unexpected speed the last few seasons and stole eight more bags this year. Garcia doesn’t have a history with Max Fried but he did post a .935 OPS against left-handed pitching this year and slugs 45 points higher against lefties throughout his career.
