Oklahoma receiver Marvin Mims made a highlight-reel catch in the fourth quarter of Oklahoma’s 55-48 win over Texas on Saturday that may go down in Sooners program lore. Mims shook free of defender Darion Dunn, adjusted his body to a heave from quarterback Caleb Williams and caught the football while managing to — just barely — drag a toe in the field of play.

All the while, his momentum carried him into the end zone. Oklahoma tied the game at 41 on an ensuing two-point conversion as the Sooners roared back from a 28-7 deficit to take a late lead. From there, they added a couple of scores to complete the largest comeback in the history of the Texas-Oklahoma rivalry. But without Mims dragging his toe and making the spectacular catch, the comeback may never have happened.

Oklahoma was faced with third-and-18 from its own 48 when Williams, a true freshman playing in place of the ineffective Spencer Rattler, stepped up in the pocket to try and make something happen. He was off-balance when he let the football fly in Mims’ direction. What followed can only be described as some of the best wide receiver play you’ll see this season in college football. The ability of Mims to adjust to the football in the air, drag a foot and fall forward into the end zone was a thing of beauty.

The touchdown reception was the second scoring connection of the game for Williams and Mims.
