UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell has been charged and arrested for domestic battery following an incident at his home on Monday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities noted that Liddell and his wife had been involved in a physical altercation prior to their arrival.

“Upon arrival deputies determined Chuck Liddell and his wife had been involved in a physical altercation,” the sheriff’s department said. “Mr. Liddell was arrested for domestic battery.”

Liddell, 51, was booked into custody in lieu of $20,000 bail, according to jail records. No further details about the incident were released.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion last competed for the promotion in 2010 after suffering a third consecutive knockout loss. He returned in 2018 with Golden Boy Promotions for a trilogy bout with rival Tito Ortiz, who also stopped him with a first-round knockout.

Prior to that, Liddell was one of the most revered figures in the sport’s history with a career dating back to 1998 and featuring wins over Vitor Belfort, Alistair Overeem, Randy Couture (twice), Ortiz (twice), Vernon White and Wanderlei Silva. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2009 as a member of the Pioneer Wing.
