Why you should back the Red Sox

Boston is expected to start right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (11-9, 3.75 ERA). He has been dominant in his last three starts, picking up a pair of wins. Although he got a no-decision in Boston’s 6-4 13-inning win over Tampa Bay in Game 3 of the ALDS, he allowed just two earned runs on three hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out eight. He defeated the New York Yankees 6-2 in the AL Wild Card Game on Oct. 5, allowing one earned run on four hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out eight and did not walk a batter. In six career starts against the Astros, Eovaldi is 1-2 with a 3.93 ERA. He’s walked 12, while striking out 33.

Powering Boston’s offense in the Game 1 loss to Houston was center fielder Kike Hernandez, who was 4-for-5 with two home runs. Hernandez has been on fire in the postseason, going 14-for-28 (.500) with four doubles, four homers and eight RBIs. In the 14-6 ALDS Game 2 win over Tampa Bay, he was 5-for-6 with three doubles, one home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. In 16 career games vs. Houston, Hernandez is hitting .264 with four doubles, three homers and six RBIs.
