Inter Milan lost for the first time this season in Serie A when they threw away a one-goal lead away at Lazio on Saturday. Ivan Perisic had given Simone Inzaghi’s men the lead with an early penalty on the boss’ return to Stadio Olimpico and it was 1-0 to the visitors at halftime in the capital.
However, Maurizio Sarri’s troops emerged for the second half and equalized through a Ciro Immobile penalty to move him into the lead atop the scoring charts.
It was level until the final 10 minutes when Felipe Anderson put Lazio ahead and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic made the result safe in added time after he was teed up by Luis Alberto.
There was still enough time for Luiz Felipe to see red for the home side at the death as the Laziale moved up into the top five.
Inter’s loss means that Napoli can move seven points clear of the titleholders if they beat Torino while Roma can leapfrog them if they beat Juventus on Sunday, which you can watch exclusively on Paramount+.
Inzaghi’s start as head coach will now come under much greater scrutiny given that the Nerazzurri have also made a slow start in the UEFA Champions League losing to Real Madrid and drawing with Shakhtar Donetsk.
