No. 20 Florida had been sleep-walking during the first half of its game against LSU, but the last play of the opening half gave the Gators a much-needed boost headed into the locker room. Starting at his own 23-yard line with just 29 seconds left, quarterback Emory Jones moved Florida into LSU territory in four plays before working even more magic.
Jones chucked the ball 53 yards in the air with time running out until halftime, hitting Justin Shorter for a 42-yard touchdown strike in the right corner of the end zone to send the teams into the locker room with the Gators down 21-13. Check out the highlight below.
On the other side of the equation, it didn’t seem like LSU had much interest in defending what should have been an easy play to stop. It was a surprising turn of events in a game that has been incredibly sluggish for the visiting Gators.
LSU coach Ed Orgeron is squarely on the hot seat, but 21 straight points in the second quarter — 14 off a pair of interceptions — to take control the game in front of the home crowd certainly made things more tolerable. That last touchdown, though, showed a tremendous lack of effort for the home-standing Tigers.
