Who’s Playing
Cincinnati @ Detroit
Current Records: Cincinnati 3-2; Detroit 0-5
What to Know
After two games on the road, the Detroit Lions are heading back home. They will take on the Cincinnati Bengals at 1 p.m. ET Sunday at Ford Field. Both teams are looking to take out their frustrations on one another after having lost close ones recently.
Detroit was close but no cigar last week as they fell 19-17 to the Minnesota Vikings. Detroit’s loss came about despite a quality game from RB D’Andre Swift, who punched in one rushing touchdown. Swift’s performance made up for a slower matchup against the Chicago Bears two weeks ago.
Most of the squad’s points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed nine. K Austin Seibert delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Speaking of close games: Cincinnati fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Green Bay Packers last week but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 25-22. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Bengals, who fell 27-24 when the teams previously met in September of 2017. Cincinnati’s defeat came about despite a quality game from WR Ja’Marr Chase, who caught six passes for one TD and 159 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Joe Burrow’s 70-yard TD bomb to Chase in the second quarter.
Detroit is expected to lose this next one by 3.5. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the team has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.
These two teams will surely be fighting tooth and nail to get back into the win column after losses last week. We’ll see which team satisfies their hunger and which team leaves with an empty stomach.
