As a rule, if I don’t have an elite tight end, I treat the position a lot like kicker and defense. I’m fine with streaming the position, and I really don’t want to hold one over their bye. That’s especially true in a week like this one, with six teams on a bye.
But every rule has exceptions, and Dalton Schultz is definitely an exception. Dawson Knox may be as well.
For Schultz, the decision is easy. He has at least 12 PPR Fantasy points in four straight games and he has a 17.5% target share for the season. There’s some concern that Michael Gallup impacts the target share, but I’m not worried enough that I would consider dropping Schultz this week to pick up a streamer. I would drop Devin Singletary, Laviska Shenault or Cole Beasley before I dropped Schultz.
Knox is slightly more complicated just because his targets haven’t been as consistent and he broke his hand in Monday night’s loss to the Titans. Right now he looks like a touchdown-dependent tight end who may not be 100% (or even available) when the Bills return from their bye.
But, Knox is a tight end. And he has been productive. So I would like to hold him (I’d drop Beasley), but it’s not a must like it is for Schultz.
Who should you pick up if you’ve been counting on Schultz or Knox? Check out the streaming options below. Here’s everything else you need to know about tight end in Week 7:

Week 7 TE Preview
The following players are not being projected to play Week 7 at this time. Here’s what it means:
TE Preview
Numbers to Know
- 15 — Targets for Ricky Seals-Jones the past two weeks.
- 25.8% — Kyle Pitts has accounted for more than a quarter of the Falcons air yards this season. No tight end has a higher rate.
- 16.7 — Mike Gesicki has scored at least 16.7 PPR Fantasy points in three of his past four games.
- 14.2 — Dalton Schultz is averaging 14.2 Fantasy points per game, which is fourth-best among tight ends, and better than Darren Waller.
- 149.1 — Jalen Hurts has a near perfect passer rating when targeting Dallas Goedert; hopefully the departure of Zach Ertz means more targets for Goedert.
- 334 — Mark Andrews leads all tight ends with 334 completed air yards.
- 7.9% — Arizona has thrown just 7.9% of their passes to tight ends. That will need to change a lot for Zach Ertz to matter in Fantasy.
