When I woke up on Monday morning I felt pretty confident I was done starting Tyler Lockett and I was pretty open to dropping Robby Anderson and Allen Robinson. Then I looked at Week 7 and we should probably wait a week.

For the most part, this has very little to do with Lockett, Robinson, or Anderson. There is real reason for concern with the three of them. I’m not sure it’s going to get better. But we’re without four of the top 12 receiver so far this season. We’ll also be without Stefon Diggs, Keenan Allen, Diontae Johnson and many others. There may not be a better option than your struggling stud.

Of all these guys I think Robby Anderson is the most likely to get dropped and he may have the most promising profile. Anderson has 29 targets over his past three games. Christian McCaffrey is on IR and Terrace Marshall is expected to miss the game.

We have no reason to believe, at 28 years old, that Anderson forgot how to catch. His 37.5% catch rate this year is 20 points lower than his career average. If you gave him his career efficiency, with his year-to-date targets, Anderson would have 23 catches for 312 yards. He’s rank as a solid WR3 between DeVonta Smith and Chase Claypool (another receiver we won’t have this week).

So with all these receivers on a bye, I’m holding on to Anderson, and probably starting him. I understand if you can’t stomach doing the same.

WR Preview

Numbers to Know

  • 36.3% Davante Adams leads the NFL with a 36.3% target share.
  • 51.4%Brandin Cooks is the only wide receiver to account for more than half of his team’s target share.
  • 174Jakobi Meyers has now seen 174 career targets without a touchdown. He had one called back last week.
  • 9 — Keenan Allen ranks fifth at receiver with nine red zone targets. It’s a great time to buy low on him.
  • 18.4 — Henry Ruggs’ 18.4 aDOT is tops amongst receivers with at least 30 targets.
  • 6 — Laviska Shenault leads all receivers with six broken tackles. I’m trying to hold him through the bye.
  • 290 — Despite already having his bye, Deebo Samuel still leads all receivers in yards after the catch.
  • 19.1Antonio Brown leads all Tampa Bay receivers with 19.1 PPR Fantasy points per game.
  • 33Sterling Shepard has 33 targets in the three complete games he’s played this season.
