The Arizona Cardinals were able to score a 37-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns last Sunday despite missing head coach Kliff Kingsbury and a couple of players due to COVID-19 protocols. Kingsbury is still away from team facilities, and the Cardinals as of right now are unsure if he will be able to coach on Sunday against the Houston Texans, according to NFL.com.

“Every day, he’s getting better and better, and we’ll see (if he can coach this week),” Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph said.

Kingsbury, who did test positive for the coronavirus, has been helping in virtual meetings this week and is building the game plan from home, according to Joseph. One would hypothesize that the Cards’ head coach would indeed return to the field this week, but that has not yet been established. Still, he’s feeling well enough to cook up some offensive ideas from the couch.

“He has a lot of time to be a (football) scientist right now,” Joseph said, per Tyler Drake of AZ Sports.

The Cardinals hired Kingsbury ahead of the 2019 season after he served six seasons as the head coach at Texas Tech. Kingsbury and his teams have shown improvement in each season, and are now the lone remaining undefeated team in the NFL at 6-0. In all, Kingsbury has gone 19-18-1 since taking over Arizona’s NFL franchise.
