What to Know
The Akron Zips haven’t won a game against the Buffalo Bulls since Oct. 28 of 2017, but they’ll be looking to end the drought on Saturday. Akron and Buffalo will face off in a Mid-American battle at 3:30 p.m. ET at Summa Field at InfoCision Stadium. The Zips need to shore up a defense that is allowing 38 points per matchup.
Akron came up short against the Miami (OH) RedHawks last week, falling 34-21. Akron was down 34-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. QB Zach Gibson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he passed for three TDs and 320 yards on 39 attempts. Gibson’s 80-yard touchdown toss to WR Andre Williams in the fourth quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the afternoon.
Buffalo can thank their lucky stars for their victory over the Ohio Bobcats last week. The final score was a hard-fought 27-26. The Bulls were down 21 to nothing at the end of the first quarter, but the squad rallied to mount a comeback. Their RB Dylan McDuffie did his thing and rushed for one TD and 138 yards on 24 carries. McDuffie’s longest run was for 58 yards in the first quarter.
The Zips have to know they’ll be fighting an uphill battle given the 11 point spread they are up against. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a two-game streak of ATS wins.
