What to Know
The Air Force Falcons and the San Diego State Aztecs will face off in a Mountain West clash at 7 p.m. ET Oct. 23 at Falcon Stadium. Both teams have allowed few points on average (the Falcons 16.29, San Diego State 16), so any points scored will be well earned.
Air Force was able to grind out a solid win over the Boise State Broncos last week, winning 24-17. The squad ran away with 21 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the victory. It was another big night for Air Force’s RB Brad Roberts, who rushed for two TDs and 135 yards on 27 carries.
Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but San Diego State ultimately got the result they were hoping for last Friday with a 19-13 win over the San Jose State Spartans. San Diego State’s WR Jesse Matthews filled up the stat sheet, snatching two receiving TDs. The Aztecs’ win came on a 24-yard TD pass from QB Lucas Johnson to Matthews with only 0:00 remaining in double overtime.
This next matchup is expected to be close, with the Falcons going off at just a 3-point favorite. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a four-game streak of ATS wins.
Air Force is now 6-1 while San Diego State sits at 6-0. A couple offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Air Force is stumbling into the game with the 242nd fewest passing yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 79 on average. The Aztecs have had an even harder time: they are 219th worst in the nation in passing yards per game, with only 135.7 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
