Through 1 Quarter
The South Carolina Gamecocks typically have all the answers at home, but the Texas A&M Aggies are posing a tough problem. The Aggies are way out in front after one quarter with a 14 to nothing lead over USC.
A&M has enjoyed the tag-team combination of RB Isaiah Spiller and TE Jalen Wydermyer. The former has picked up 59 yards on the ground on eight carries, while the latter has caught one pass for one TD and 25 yards. Another playmaker for A&M has been RB Ainias Smith, who returned a punt 95 yards to the end zone in the first quarter.

What to Know
The Texas A&M Aggies are 6-0 against the South Carolina Gamecocks since October of 2015, and they’ll have a chance to extend that success Saturday. The Aggies and USC will face off in an SEC battle at 7:30 p.m. ET at Kyle Field. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
A&M took their matchup against the Missouri Tigers last week by a conclusive 35-14 score. The team accrued 28 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win. A&M’s success was spearheaded by the efforts of RB Devon Achane, who rushed for two TDs and 124 yards on 16 carries, and RB Isaiah Spiller, who rushed for one TD and 168 yards on 20 carries.
Meanwhile, USC dodged a bullet last week, finishing off the Vanderbilt Commodores 21-20. USC’s TE Jaheim Bell filled up the stat sheet, catching six passes for one TD and 136 yards. That receiving effort made it the first game that Bell has posted more than 100 yards receiving.
The Aggies are the favorite in this one, with an expected 19.5-point margin of victory. They are currently two-for-two against the spread in their most recent games, a trend bettors might want to take into account.
The wins brought A&M up to 5-2 and the Gamecocks to 4-3. A pair of stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: A&M is 231st worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown nine on the season. USCs have had an even harder time: they are stumbling into the contest with the 169th most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown five on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
