Patriots vs. Jets odds, line, how to watch, live stream: Model reveals 2021 NFL Week 7 picks, predictions

Nobody is going to feel sorry for the six-time Super Bowl champion New England Patriots (2-4), but through six weeks, their schedule hasn’t been a cakewalk. Three of their four losses have come against the New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys, who are a combined 13-4. One of their two wins has come against the New York Jets (1-4), who they face again on Sunday. New York is coming off of a bye week, and looks to come away with a better showing than in its 25-6 loss to New England in Week 2. You can stream Patriots vs. Jets on Paramount+.

Week 7 NFL picks for Jets vs. Patriots

Before you tune in to Sunday’s Patriots vs. Jets game, you need to see the NFL picks from SportsLine’s advanced computer model. The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up almost $7,700 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception six-plus years ago. It went a sizzling 24-14 on top-rated NFL picks last season, returning more than $800. The model also enters Week 7 of the 2021 season on an incredible 125-85 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season.

The model also ranked in the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past five years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94 percent of CBS Sports Football Pick’em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

For Patriots vs. Jets, the model is picking the Patriots to cover the seven-point spread in well over 60 percent of simulations. In their first meeting, Jets rookie QB Zach Wilson threw four interceptions and was sacked four times, as New England smothered its division rival.

One of the keys to the Patriots’ success in Week 7 will be the effectiveness of running back Damien Harris. In Week 6, he played through rib and chest injuries to come away with 101 yards and a touchdown against Dallas. After coming on-and-off the field for a couple of examinations by trainers in last week’s loss, he wasn’t even included on the injury report this week. The Jets haven’t given up a rushing touchdown to a running back this season, but they have given up the third-most rushing yards with 356.

The Jets have some concerns on defense coming into the game as both of their starting safeties have been limited in practice this week. Marcus Maye (ankle) was a full participant on Thursday but top tackler, linebacker C.J. Mosley (hamstring), is out. Wilson has the lowest passer rating (62.9) among all starting rookie quarterbacks this season and the second-lowest yards per completion (6.4).
