Through 3 Quarters
Down two at the end of last quarter, the Miami Heat have now snagged the lead. They have emerged as the frontrunner after three quarters and are ahead of the Brooklyn Nets 81-74.
The Heat’s score has come on a group effort, with scores from small forward Jimmy Butler (14 points), center Bam Adebayo (14 points), point guard Tyler Herro (14 points), center DeWayne Dedmon (12 points), and power forward P.J. Tucker (12 points). Those points put DeWayne Dedmon near his season high of 13.
Power forward Kevin Durant has led the way so far for Brooklyn, as he has posted a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.

What to Know
The Brooklyn Nets’ homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Miami Heat at 7:30 p.m. ET Oct. 27 at Barclays Center. The Nets are out to stop a nine-game streak of losses at home.
Brooklyn strolled past the Washington Wizards with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 104-90. Brooklyn can attribute much of their success to power forward Kevin Durant, who had 25 points along with eight boards.
Meanwhile, while not quite a landslide, the contest between Miami and the Orlando Magic on Monday was still a pretty decisive one as Miami wrapped it up with a 107-90 victory at home. Small forward Jimmy Butler was the offensive standout of the matchup for Miami, picking up 36 points in addition to five steals.
The wins brought the Nets up to 2-2 and the Heat to 2-1. With back-to-back wins few and far between for both teams — they’re both 0-1 after winning this year — a win will be a boon for either squad.
