Current Records: San Antonio 1-3; Dallas 2-1
What to Know
The San Antonio Spurs have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. San Antonio and the Dallas Mavericks will face off in a Southwest Division battle at 8:30 p.m. ET Thursday at American Airlines Center. Dallas will be strutting in after a victory while the Spurs will be stumbling in from a defeat.
San Antonio fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 125-121. San Antonio’s loss came about despite a quality game from center Jakob Poeltl, who posted a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds along with three blocks.
Meanwhile, Dallas was able to grind out a solid win over the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, winning 116-106. Among those leading the charge for Dallas was point guard Luka Doncic, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 boards in addition to seven assists.
The Spurs are expected to lose this next one by 6.5. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past two games, so buyers beware.
San Antonio is now 1-3 while the Mavericks sit at 2-1. A pair of offensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: San Antonio enters the game with a 47.60% field goal percentage, good for second best in the league. On the other end of the spectrum, Dallas has only been able to knock down 40.40% percent of their shots, which is the lowest field goal percentage in the league. We’ll see if the Spurs’ 7.20% advantage translates to a win.
