For the first time since Week 1, the Denver Broncos will have Jerry Jeudy on their side when they take the field on Sunday. The Broncos announced Saturday that Jeudy, along with tight end Albert Okwuegbunam and linebacker Jonas Griffith, has been activated from injured reserve for the team’s Week 8 game against the Washington Football Team.

Jeudy was off to a terrific start — catching six of seven targets for 72 yards against the New York Giants in the season opener — when he suffered what appeared to be a serious ankle injury. There was initial concern that Jeudy’s season might be over, but he instead was placed on short-term injured reserve with the option to return.

It was not long before the Broncos also lost wide receiver K.J. Hamler for the season to a torn ACL. They have been working with Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick as the top two wide receivers in the weeks since, with Kendall Hinton mixing in behind them. Getting Jeudy back in the fold gives Teddy Bridgewater another weapon on the perimeter with which to attack teams.

Okwuegbunam worked as the No. 2 tight end behind Noah Fant during the early part of the season, playing between 43% and 56% of the snaps in the first three games of the year before suffering an injury in Week 4. He should again team with Fant in two-tight end sets, while likely ceding the field to Jeudy or Patrick when the Broncos go to 11 personnel (one tight end) packages.

At 3-4, the Broncos are tied with the Chiefs for last place in the AFC West, and need to begin stacking wins to get themselves back in the playoff picture. Getting two big offensive threats back should only help, though the team’s injury issues on defense may could put a crimp in those efforts.
