The Oregon State Beavers typically have all the answers at home, but the California Golden Bears are posing a tough problem. The Oregon State Beavers and the California Golden Bears are set to square off in a Pac-12 matchup at 7 p.m. ET Oct. 30 at California Memorial Stadium. The contest is expected to be a close one, with the Beavers going off at just a 2-point favorite.
Oregon State was hampered by 104 penalty yards against the Utah Utes last week, but luckily for them that wasn’t the tale of the game. Oregon State walked away with a 42-34 win. It was another big night for their RB B.J. Baylor, who rushed for one TD and 152 yards on 19 carries. Baylor’s longest run was for 68 yards in the second quarter.
Meanwhile, when you finish with 334 more yards than your opponent like California did last week, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. Everything went their way against the Colorado Buffaloes as they made off with a 26-3 victory. The team accrued 23 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory. California’s QB Chase Garbers did his thing and passed for two TDs and 225 yards on 29 attempts in addition to picking up 96 yards on the ground.
Most of the squad’s points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed 14. K Dario Longhetto delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game.
The wins brought Oregon State up to 5-2 and the Golden Bears to a reciprocal 2-5. A pair of defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Beavers are 203rd worst in the nation in passing yards allowed per game, with 276.5 on average. California has experienced some passing struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 214th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 13 on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
