What to Know
The Philadelphia Eagles are on the road again next Sunday and play against the Detroit Lions at 1 p.m. ET Oct. 31 at Ford Field. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
The Eagles came up short against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, falling 33-22. Philadelphia was down 30-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. A silver lining for them was the play of QB Jalen Hurts, who passed for two TDs and 236 yards on 34 attempts in addition to picking up 61 yards on the ground. Hurts ended up with a passer rating of 130.70.
Meanwhile, Detroit scored first but ultimately less than the Los Angeles Rams in their contest on Sunday. The Lions took a 28-19 hit to the loss column. One thing holding Detroit back was the mediocre play of QB Jared Goff, who did not have his best game: despite one touchdown, he threw two interceptions. Goff ended up with a passer rating of 121.70.
Most of the squad’s points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed 13. K Austin Seibert delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game.
Philadelphia was close but no cigar when the teams previously met two seasons ago as they fell 27-24 to Detroit. Can the Eagles avenge their loss, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll soon find out.
