The Georgia State Panthers and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns will face off in a Sun Belt clash at 7:30 p.m. ET Nov. 4 at Cajun Field. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous games.
Georgia State netted a 21-14 victory over the Georgia Southern Eagles on Saturday. The Panthers’ success was spearheaded by the efforts of RB Tucker Gregg, who punched in two rushing touchdowns, and CB Jamyest Williams, who punched in one rushing touchdown. Georgia State’s win came on a 23-yard rush from Williams with only 0:32 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, Louisiana kept a clean sheet against the Texas State Bobcats on Saturday and took the contest 45 to nothing. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Louisiana had established a 35 to nothing advantage. Louisiana QB Levi Lewis was slinging it as he passed for three TDs and 229 yards on 33 attempts.
Special teams collected 13 points for Louisiana. K Nate Snyder delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
The wins brought the Panthers up to 4-4 and the Ragin’ Cajuns to 7-1. Two defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Georgia State is stumbling into the game with the 232nd most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 15 on the season. Louisianas have had an even harder time: they are 197th worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with 11 on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
