Who’s Playing
Virginia Tech @ Boston College
Current Records: Virginia Tech 4-4; Boston College 4-4
What to Know
After two games on the road, the Boston College Eagles are heading back home. BC and the Virginia Tech Hokies will face off in an ACC battle at 7:30 p.m. ET Friday at Alumni Stadium. The Eagles are out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
BC received a tough blow last week as they fell 21-6 to the Syracuse Orange.
Meanwhile, Virginia Tech picked up a 26-17 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets last week. The team ran away with 20 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the victory. Virginia Tech relied on the efforts of WR Tre Turner, who caught seven passes for one TD and 187 yards, and QB Braxton Burmeister, who passed for two TDs and 248 yards on 25 attempts in addition to picking up 48 yards on the ground. One of the most thrilling moments was Turner’s 69-yard TD reception in the first quarter.
Most of the squad’s points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed 14. K John Parker Romo delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game.
BC is expected to lose this next one by 3. Now might not be the best time to take the Eagles against the spread since they’ve let down bettors for the past three consecutive games.
BC and the Hokies now sit at an identical 4-4. A pair of offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: BC is 134th worst in the nation in passing yards per game, with only 213.8 on average. Virginia Tech has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the matchup with the 189th fewest yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 311.8 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
