Paris Saint-Germain will be without Lionel Messi once again this weekend as the Argentina international will miss the Ligue 1 clash away at Girondins de Bordeaux with knee and hamstring pain which was picked up in last week’s 2-1 home win over Lille OSC.

Messi, 34, was absent as PSG drew 2-2 away at RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League in midweek after coming off at half-time during the LOSC victory and has already missed a run of games earlier this season.

“Messi continued his treatment at the Ooredoo Training Centre this morning for knee and hamstring pains,” read a PSG medical update before Mauricio Pochettino ruled his compatriot out for the trip to Matmut Atlantique in his pre-match press conference.

Despite Messi missing the Bordeaux trip, he is not expected to be ruled out for any of Argentina’s November internationals with Uruguay away and Brazil at home to complete 2021’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers for Qatar next year.

On top of the former Barcelona man, Leandro Paredes, Sergio Ramos, Marco Verratti, Rafinha and Presnel Kimpembe are all out this weekend and will step up their recoveries over the international break.
