According to Caesars Sportsbook, Josh Allen is the NFL MVP frontrunner, and he’ll look to build upon his candidacy in Week 9 vs. the Jags. Jacksonville ranks 28th in both points allowed and passing yards allowed, so expect Allen to be a hot item in NFL DFS lineups. The same goes for his trio of receivers as Stefon Diggs, Emmanuel Sanders and Cole Beasley are all on pace to finish with over 1,000 receiving yards. The only worry daily Fantasy football players may have is the Bills‘ starters getting pulled early if Buffalo (-14.5) blows out the Jags as Caesars expects it to.
Allen does tend to throw the ball fewer times when the Bills have big leads, so that’s something to consider when formulating your NFL DFS strategy. Top NFL DFS picks for Week 9
One of McClure’s top NFL DFS picks for Week 9 is Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill at $8,500 on DraftKings and $7,900 on FanDuel. Patrick Mahomes was looking for Hill early and often in Week 8 as he was targeted 18 times and came away with 12 grabs for 94 yards and a score. Both the targets and receptions were one away from matching Hill’s career-highs.
Hill has leapfrogged Travis Kelce in terms of the Chiefs’ receiving pecking order as he’s being targeted more often than the tight end for the first time in their six years as teammates. Hill has converted all of those targets into an NFL-leading 64 receptions, while he also ranks fifth in yards (735) and sixth in touchdowns (six). Hill has gained at least 67 scrimmage yards in seven of eight games this season and should exploit a Packers defense that’s still missing Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander (shoulder).
Part of McClure’s optimal NFL DFS strategy also includes rostering Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds ($5,300 DraftKings, $5,900 FanDuel), who had 30 rushing yards, 39 receiving yards and a touchdown last week. Edmonds had the dishonor of being the player with the most scrimmage yards in the league without a touchdown, but finally found the end zone for the first time in Week 8.
He’s one of just seven players in the league with at least 400 rushing and 200 receiving yards as he rarely has a bad game. He’s gained at least 50 yards from scrimmage in all but one contest this year and is far out-producing running back James Conner. Edmonds has gained 638 yards from scrimmage this year compared to Conner, who has just 392 scrimmage yards.
