The Los Angeles Rams were unable to find a trade partner for veteran wideout DeSean Jackson before the deadline earlier this week, and decided to waive him to allow the speedster the opportunity to search for a new team. While he wasn’t a major part of the Rams’ offense this season, quarterback Matthew Stafford said he was disappointed it ended this way.

“It’s disappointing that it didn’t work out. I’ve got a ton of respect for DeSean and how talented he is as a player. I reached out to him afterwards and just said, ‘Man, it was fun playing with one of the all-time great deep threats.’ Being able to connect with him on a long one against Tampa was cool,” Stafford said, via Rams Wire. “It didn’t work out for whatever reason and I just know that I trust our front office and our coaching staff to put us in the best position to try to succeed. That’s what they’re always trying to do is figure out what’s best for this team. And that’s what they felt was best and we move on. We go from there. We’ve got a great group of guys. I’m ready to play and excited about what’s coming next.”

The 34-year-old caught just eight passes for 221 yards and one touchdown in seven games this year. He was inactive for the Rams’ 38-22 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday, as Jackson’s camp and the Rams had mutually agreed to seek a trade partner. Jackson’s best outing came against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3, as he caught three passes for 120 yards and a touchdown.

Jackson will likely have a couple of teams interested in his services and he could sign with another club soon. It appears he’s looking for a situation where he can make an impact from the jump. CBS Sports’ Bryan DeArdo identified four potential landing spots for Jackson. Check out his article, here
