Who’s Playing
Houston @ Golden State
Current Records: Houston 1-8; Golden State 7-1
What to Know
The Houston Rockets haven’t won a contest against the Golden State Warriors since Feb. 20 of last year, but they’ll be looking to end the drought on Sunday. Houston might have tired legs after a matchup yesterday as they head on the road against Golden State at 8:30 p.m. ET Nov. 7 at Chase Center. The Dubs will be strutting in after a victory while the Rockets will be stumbling in from a loss.
Houston was just a bucket short of a win this past Saturday and fell 95-94 to the Denver Nuggets. Shooting guard Kevin Porter wasn’t much of a difference maker for Houston; Porter finished with only six points on 2-for-14 shooting in his 32 minutes on the court.
Meanwhile, Golden State’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans this past Friday was close at halftime, but the Dubs turned on the heat in the second half with 72 points. The Dubs really took it to New Orleans for a full four quarters, racking up a 126-85 win at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Dubs had established an 88-66 advantage. Their success was spearheaded by the efforts of point guard Gary Payton II, who had 17 points in addition to six rebounds, and shooting guard Jordan Poole, who shot 6-for-9 from beyond the arc and finished with 26 points.
The Rockets have to know they’ll be fighting an uphill battle given the 12.50 point spread they are up against. The odds have been favorable for them against the spread on the road this season, even if it’s been tough sledding overall. They are 4-2 ATS in away games but only 5-4 all in all.
Houston is now 1-8 while the Dubs sit at 7-1. Golden State is 5-1 after wins this year, and Houston is 1-6 after losses.
