Who’s Playing

Buffalo @ Miami (OH)

Current Records: Buffalo 4-5; Miami (OH) 4-5

What to Know

The Miami (OH) RedHawks and the Buffalo Bulls are even-steven against one another since October of 2015 (3-3), but not for long. Miami (OH) and the Bulls will face off in a Mid-American battle at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday at Fred C. Yager Stadium. With a combined 1,068 yards of offense in their previous games, we can expect a fast-paced game.

It was close but no cigar for Miami (OH) as they fell 35-33 to the Ohio Bobcats on Tuesday. The RedHawks’ defeat shouldn’t obscure the performances of QB Brett Gabbert, who passed for five TDs and 492 yards on 55 attempts, and WR Jack Sorenson, who caught 14 passes for two TDs and 283 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Sorenson’s 82-yard TD reception down the right side of the field in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, Buffalo came up short against the Bowling Green Falcons last week, falling 56-44. What made the loss an especially bitter pill for Buffalo to swallow was that they had been favored by 13.5 points coming into the matchup. A silver lining for them was the play of RB Dylan McDuffie, who rushed for two TDs and 166 yards on 34 carries.

The losses bumped both teams down to an identical 4-5. A pair of defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Miami (OH) is stumbling into the contest with the 215th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 18 on the season. The Bulls have experienced some struggles of their own as they are 230th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 20 on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
