What to Know
After two games on the road, the Washington Football Team are heading back home. Their bye week comes to an end as they meet up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 1 p.m. ET at FedEx Field next Sunday. Given that these two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Washington came up short against the Denver Broncos last week, falling 17-10. One thing holding Washington back was the mediocre play of QB Taylor Heinicke, who did not have his best game: despite one touchdown, he threw two interceptions. Heinicke ended up with a passer rating of 117.90.
Meanwhile, Tampa Bay came up short against the New Orleans Saints last week, falling 36-27. The Buccaneers’ defeat shouldn’t obscure the performances of WR Chris Godwin, who caught eight passes for one TD and 140 yards, and QB Tom Brady, who passed for four TDs and 375 yards on 40 attempts. Brady’s 50-yard touchdown toss down the right side of the field to WR Cyril Grayson in the fourth quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the evening.
Washington came up short against Tampa Bay when the two teams previously met in January, falling 31-23. The loss knocked Washington out of the playoffs, so expect them to come at Tampa Bay with a vengeful fire.
