What to Know
The Atlanta Falcons will hit the road for the second straight week as they head to AT&T Stadium at 1 p.m. ET next Sunday. If the game is anything like the Dallas Cowboys’ 40-39 victory from their previous meeting in September of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
It was a close one, but on Sunday Atlanta sidestepped the New Orleans Saints for a 27-25 win. Atlanta QB Matt Ryan was slinging it as he passed for two TDs and 343 yards on 30 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. Ryan had some trouble finding his footing against the Carolina Panthers last week, so this was a step in the right direction.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys entered their matchup against the Denver Broncos on Sunday without any home losses — but there’s a first time for everything. Dallas took a 30-16 hit to the loss column. This was hardly the result they or its fans were betting on, as they were favored by 10 points over Denver heading into this contest. No one had a standout game offensively for Dallas, but they got two touchdowns from WR Malik Turner.
Atlanta’s win brought them up to 4-4 while Dallas’ loss pulled them down to 6-2. A pair of offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Falcons are stumbling into the game with the third fewest rushing touchdowns in the league, having accrued only four on the season. The Cowboys’ offense has more to brag about, as they they rank first in the NFL when it comes to yards per game, with 434.3 on average.
