Prior to Saturday’s South Dakota-South Dakota State game, Coyotes wide receiver Jeremiah Webb had only three catches for a scoreless 32 yards over his career. The redshirt freshman broke out in the in-state rivalry, though, delivering his team a huge win and one of the best highlights of the college football season.

The Coyotes were down 20-17 with a second left on the clock and the ball at their own 43-yard line. Quarterback Carson Camp took a shotgun snap, rolled right to evade a Jackrabbits’ pass rusher and heaved the ball toward a sea of players near the end zone. The ball hit two players’ hands before landing softly in Webb’s for the game-winning, 57-yard Hail Mary score.

Webb finished the game with six catches, 153 yards and his first career touchdown. The announcers gave wide receiver Caleb Vander Esch initial credit for the score, however, as he grabbed the ball and sprinted through the endzone to celebrate as if he made the play himself.

Saturday’s win was South Dakota’s second straight in the in-state series, a stark turnaround considering the Coyotes lost their previous 10 meetings with the Jackrabbits. Camp’s prolific passing day helped make it happen, as he completed 19 of his 27 attempts for a career-high 288 yards and two scores.

The Coyotes (7-3) will close their regular season with a 3:30 p.m. ET game against North Dakota State in Fargo next Saturday.
