Through 2 Quarters

Although the Detroit Pistons were the underdogs at tipoff, they’ve since taken control of the game. They have emerged as the frontrunner at halftime and are ahead of the Indiana Pacers 49-41.

The Pistons haven’t had any offensive standouts so far with all players held to ten points or fewer. Indiana has been relying on point guard Malcolm Brogdon, who has 14 points and two assists along with four rebounds, and shooting guard Jeremy Lamb, who has five points.

This is the least points the Pacers have had yet this year going into the third quarter.

What to Know

The Detroit Pistons haven’t won a contest against the Indiana Pacers since Dec. 6 of 2019, but they’ll be looking to end the drought Wednesday. The Pistons and Indiana will face off in a Central Division battle at 7 p.m. ET at Little Caesars Arena.

Detroit has to be hurting after a devastating 129-107 defeat at the hands of the Sacramento Kings on Monday. Detroit was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 68-44. One thing holding Detroit back was the mediocre play of power forward Jerami Grant, who did not have his best game: he finished with only seven points on 3-for-10 shooting in his 27 minutes on the court.

Meanwhile, Indiana came up short against the New York Knicks on Monday, falling 92-84. Despite the loss, the Pacers got a solid performance out of power forward Domantas Sabonis, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 boards.

The Pistons are expected to lose this next one by 6.5. Those betting on them against the spread shouldn’t have high expectations for them since the squad is 4-8 ATS when expected to lose.

With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. If Indiana want to win, they will need to focus on stopping Detroit’s shooting guard Cade Cunningham, who shot 5-for-11 from beyond the arc and finished with 25 points, eight dimes and eight rebounds, and small forward Saddiq Bey, who had 28 points. We’ll see whether or not they are up to the challenge.
