Knicks vs. Rockets odds, line: 2021 NBA picks, Nov. 20 predictions from proven computer model

The Houston Rockets will take on the New York Knicks at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday at Madison Square Garden. New York is 8-7 overall and 3-5 at home, while the Rockets are 1-14 overall and 0-9 on the road. Last season, the Knicks won both of their head-to-head matchups with the Rockets by over 20 points and Houston is still very clearly rebuilding, as evidenced by its record.

However, the Knicks have failed to cover in three of their last four and also haven’t covered in each of the games this season where they’ve been double-digit favorites. New York is favored by 11 points in the latest Knicks vs. Rockets odds from Caesars Sportsbook and the over-under is set at 211.5. What you need to know about the Knicks

The Knicks were within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 104-98 to the Orlando Magic. A silver lining for New York was the play of center Mitchell Robinson, who posted a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. R.J. Barrett also had 17 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the loss.

After finishing third in the NBA in defensive rating a season ago, the Knicks have struggled a bit at that end of the floor. They’ll enter Saturday’s matchup ranked 18th in the NBA in points allowed per 100 possessions (108.8) and while they rank 12th in offensive rating (109.4), they’ve failed to score more than 100 points in the last four games. Julius Randle has averaged just 12.5 points per game during that span and New York will need more from its superstar to be a serious threat in the East again.

What you need to know about the Rockets

Meanwhile, Houston lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road by a decisive 101-89 margin. Power forward Christian Wood wasn’t much of a difference maker for Houston. Wood played for 28 minutes and  4-for-16 from the field but did manage a double-double on 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Wood’s scoring numbers have dipped in 2021-22, as he is shooting 44.2 percent from the floor and averaging 16.1 points per game after shooting 51.4 percent and averaging 21.0 points per game last season. However, the quality of his looks should improve with better perimeter play and No. 2 overall pick Jalen Green had his fourth 20-point game of the season in the loss to Oklahoma City.
