What to Know
The Elon Phoenix will take on the Temple Owls at 10:30 a.m. ET on Sunday at TD Arena. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they’ll have plenty of motivation to get the ‘W.’
On Friday, the Phoenix lost to the Ole Miss Rebels by a decisive 74-56 margin. Guard Darius Burford (16 points) was the top scorer for Elon.
Meanwhile, things couldn’t have gone much worse for Temple as they lost 82-62 to the Boise State Broncos on Friday. A silver lining for Temple was the play of guard Khalif Battle, who had 19 points. Battle had some trouble finding his footing against the Clemson Tigers on Thursday, so this was a step in the right direction.
Elon is now 2-3 while Temple sits at 1-3. Two stats to keep an eye on: The Phoenix are stumbling into the matchup with the 36th fewest takeaways in college basketball, having accrued only 11 on average. The Owls have had an even harder time: they are 27th worst in college basketball in takeaways, with only 10.8 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
