Each week, I will use this space to tell you what are a few of the best bets heading into the weekend. I will also throw in an upset of the week, in which a team that is at least a touchdown underdog will be picked to win outright.
I will also give you picks on other games involving potential College Football Playoff teams. There may be scenarios for teams I am not listing that get them CFP consideration, but I do not consider them likely.
Las week, I went 1-2 again to drop to 17-19 overall, but I hit on the upset special. That is 4-8 straight up and 5-7 ATS.

No. 16 Iowa at Nebraska
Featured Game | Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Iowa Hawkeyes
I wish I had gotten this when Nebraska was a field goal favorite. That was before we learned Cornhuskers senior quarterback Adrian Martinez was going to miss the game with an injured shoulder. Nebraska has spent most of this season playing just well enough to lose. With a redshirt freshman making his first start, it could be worse than that. Pick: Iowa (-1.5)
Kansas State at Texas
Featured Game | Texas Longhorns vs. Kansas State Wildcats
How is Texas favored over anyone right now? I mean, sure, a blind pig could find an ear of corn once in a while, but I’m certainly not betting on it. The Longhorns are at home, but their historic collapse this season shows no signs of abating. I’ll take the points here. Pick: Kansas State (+3)
Florida State at Florida
Featured Game | Florida Gators vs. Florida State Seminoles
This is another team that should not be favored, although I would not be nearly as surprised if Florida showed up for this one and played well. However, these are two teams going in opposite directions. The Gators lost their last four conference games and gave up 52 points to Samford en route to firing Dan Mullen. The Seminoles have won five out of seven since an 0-4 start. Pick: Florida State (+3)
Upset of the Week
No. 15 Texas A&M at LSU
Featured Game | LSU Tigers vs. Texas A&M Aggies
It’s LSU coach Ed Orgeron’s swan song, so expect him to pull out all the stops to ride off into the sunset with a win. The run of play does not inspire confidence in this pick, so this is truly a flier. LSU has only beaten Florida and Louisiana-Monroe since September. The Aggies had a four-game winning streak stopped by Ole MIss the last time they took to the road. Pick: LSU (+205)
